Wells for India is a local charity based in Winchester. The charity works with some of the poorest rural communities in India. It supports villages in developing practical, sustainable ways to access, and manage water all year round.
The Eco Schools group have worked in partnership with this charity for the last 2 years. Representatives from the charity visited Hounsdown in March for World Water Day and more recently for Year 8 theme day and worked with our students on problem solving tasks to find the best ways communities in India can conserve water. Over the summer term the Eco Schools group have also been fundraising to raise money to support the valuable work of the charity.
The first fundraising activity was a fun water relay for Year 7 students in their PE lessons. Students had to transport water on their heads and pass it to team members trying not to spill any.
The Eco group also raised money by selling ice pops and drinks at sports day and by carrying out a staff car wash. A total of £ was raised. Thank you to everyone who supported us.
