Notice to Parents/Carers of students attending this Saturday's London Art trip, November 21st 2015

Following the tragic events in Paris at the end of last week, the school has considered potential concerns from staff, students and parents regarding the upcoming Art trip to London this Saturday. As a result, we are still intending to go ahead with the trip to the Tate Modern and Tate Britain Galleries. Students will be kept in a group while transferring from the coach to the galleries and then will only be allowed the freedom to roam in small groups within the bounds of the galleries themselves. Students will be dropped off at the Tate Modern first then collected by the coach and transferred to the Tate Britain until collection to come home, within the times set out in the original letter.

We as a school understand there may be heightened anxiety regarding a trip to the capital at present as a result of the recent events in Paris. Our understanding based on the current advice from the Local Authority is that the level of risk for schools travelling to London has not been raised following these recent events. However, we would understand if you need to contact the school to discuss your son's/daughter's attendance, or you wish them not to go at this particular time. Can I ask that you contact us by Thursday lunchtime at the latest, if you wish to reconsider this trip. This gives us time to change group lists in preparation for Saturday.

Many thanks for your time and consideration.

Mr Wallwork, trip leader

Year 11 GCSE Maths Mock Exam

In order to help Y11 students become accustomed to using their own equipment for their exam in June, no calculators or other maths equipment will be lent out on the day of the GCSE mock exam. It is vital that students become accustomed to using their own equipment for the exam, particularly the calculator. If students are experiencing problems obtaining a calculator or maths kit, they must see their class teacher at any time well before the morning of the exam. For any queries please contact Dr Adeniran on f.adeniran@hounsdown.hants.sch.uk or your child's class teacher.
