Working Together Achieving Excellence

Hounsdown is a thriving 11-16 Specialist Science and Leadership comprehensive school situated on the western side of Totton, near the edge of the New Forest. Our school occupies an extensive and attractive 20 acre site which provides superb recreational space. We have 1215 students on roll.

Together, the governors, staff and I are committed to maximising the potential of every individual student by:

  • Developing a culture of respect for everyone within our school
  • Creating and providing a range of curricular and extra curricular activities
  • Providing opportunities and learning experiences for our young people that meet their individual needs and challenges them to succeed
  • Working together to ensure our students develop important life long skills including leadership and communication as well as achieving their very best.

We inspire to develop:

Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, and Responsible Citizens

We are extremely proud of our achievements and always endeavour to improve further.

In Memory of Lily & Abbey

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of Lily Godwin and Abbey Rogers. We were saddened to hear of the tragic news of these two young people, who were former students of Hounsdown School. Both girls were popular and well respected by staff and students alike. Our thoughts are also with the two other young people involved in the accident on Friday night; one of whom is also a former student.

The entire school community is thinking of the families at this very difficult time, and we will offer all the support we can to those siblings and friends at the school.
