Report student illness / absence

By 08:35 in the morning, please call 02380 862981, select option 1 and leave a message detailing...

• The student's name
• Their Tutor Group
• The nature of their illness / appointment
• When they are expected to return.

Please note that absence must be reported to the school by 10am (and every day for the duration of absence).

Urgent information

If you are worried about the immediate safety or well-being of a student, contact us immediately or come into school and tell us you have a ‘serious safeguarding/safety issue’.  This will be followed up immediately.

If the school is closed, Students, parents and carers can email safeguarding@hounsdown.hants.sch.uk to report any concerns, 365 days a year.

Important (but NOT urgent) information

If you don’t get a timely response or have a further question

• Subject Leader (one subject only)
• Year Leader (more than one subject area or pastoral concerns)
• SENCO (for Special Educational Need queries)

If you have a serious complaint or not had your issue resolved

Call 02380 862981 or email admin@hounsdown.hants.sch.uk and ask for escalation to Senior Staff (SLT) and state that you would like a member of SLT to contact you as soon as possible.  Such instances will be acknowledged within 48 hours (2 school days) and replied to in 5 school days or 20 days if an investigation is required.

You may wish to come in to school and ask to speak to someone directly; a duty member of staff or SLT will be able to hear your concerns.  If SLT are unable to resolve your concern, please write to the Headteacher via admin@hounsdown.hants.sch.uk or in writing.

If the Headteacher is unable to resolve your concern, they will direct you to the school’s Chair of Governors.

We hope the above will address your concerns, but if not, we always co-operate with the ESFA / DfE to resolve any complaints made to them.
