The Music Department is full of many varied and vibrant opportunities for students. They are encouraged to take up instruments, play solo pieces or be part of the many groups we run. These include, Guitar Group, Rock Band, Swing Band, Jazz Band, Vocal Group, Chamber Choir, Junior Choir, Keyboard Club, String Group and Flute Group.
In KS3 students learn about rhythms, melodies and how to perform and compose their own music. They are encouraged to work by themselves and in groups. There is an opportunity for any student to learn an instrument. We offer lessons in Brass, Strings, Percussion and Woodwind, as well as Piano and Keyboard, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Voice.
In KS4 we have a large number of students opting to take music for GCSE. It is advisable to be learning to play an instrument or have singing lessons, either in or out of school in order to take this course. We offer instrumental and vocal lessons in school and parents can contact the Music Department in order to obtain details of these lessons.
