Change to 2021 Leavers Celebration and Certificate evening - 25th November 2021

Dear Parents/Carers & 2021 Hounsdown Leavers,

Change to 2021 Leavers Celebration and Certificate evening - 25th November 2021

Due to increasing Covid numbers in the local community and the large number of leavers, parents/carers wishing to attend this event, we have taken the hard decision to change the format of the Celebration and GCSE Certificate Evening. We would still like to welcome back the 2021 Leavers to present them with their certificates and hear about how they are getting on in the next stage of their journey but will now do this in smaller groups and more informally.

We are now inviting students to attend within specific times listed below to present them with their GCSE Certificates. In support of reducing the numbers on site at any one time, leavers are now welcome to bring one guest with them.

5.30pm - 5.45pm 11GJS / 11LNE

5.55pm - 6.10pm 11MHO / 11OKI

6.20pm - 6.35pm 11RCO / 11RSM

6.45pm - 7.00pm 11SHO / 11TST / 11VMA

Entrance on the evening will be through the School foyer where you will be directed into the main hall/upper dining area to be presented with your certificates. Exit will be through the doors from the dining hall. After collecting your certificates there is an opportunity to collect any NEA/coursework on the evening. We have been notified by exam boards that we do not need to keep any of this work for a longer period as was previously suggested.

Please note; there will be no school photographs taken at the event, parents are of course welcome to take photos of their own child receiving their certificates.

The evening is to enable students to collect their official examination certificates; these are legal documents from the exam boards that will be requested by employers and future study institution. If they are not collected or subsequently misplaced by you they will cost around £50 per examination board to replace. Uncollected certificates will be available to ex-students at Reception between 8.30am - 4pm from Friday 26th November onwards and will be kept in school for a period of one year. If a student is unable to collect these in person they will need to sign a letter naming the person they wish to collect on their behalf. This letter and ID must be presented at the time of collection. We would urge students to collect their certificates either on the 25th November or from Reception and keep them safe, they will need them for any future study and employment.

If you are not attending on 25th November and would like to collect your NEA/Coursework, please email the Subject Leader to arrange collection of this from reception. This must be in at a pre-arranged time so that it is prepared to be available for you.

There is no requirement to reply with intention of attending; we look forward to seeing you at the evening.

Yours sincerely,

Miss L Squire
