Year 8 Curriculum & Options
Students are taught in their tutor groups for the following subjects; Art, Drama, Music. For practical subjects such as Design & Technology and PE, they are taught in smaller, mixed ability groups to meet health and safety requirements.
All students follow the same curriculum apart from a small number of students who benefit from having additional specialist support in English and Maths and more contact from one specialist teacher to support them.
The following tables show the number of hours per fortnight taught to support the Year 8 Curriculum.

Year 8 Options
In the Spring term of Year 8, students begin their KS4 (Key Stage 4, Y9 to Y11) options selection process, which they then start in September of Year 9.
Our principles are to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum that is as personalised as possible, to best suit the needs of all students.
We start this process early in order that we share information in advance, giving time for students to discuss and reflect, before completing their option choices.
We hope that the following information provides you all with the information needed to make these choices. Students also spend time talking to their tutors and teachers about Key Stage 4 courses and, if they have any specific questions that need to be addressed, please do not hesitate to contact the relevant teacher or tutor.
